WHAT’S HAPPENING AT OHS? 

March:

  • Spring Break is Wednesday, March 18th-Sunday, March 22nd.
  • Yearbooks are currently on sale for $58.00! Order forms are available outside Mrs. Elisaia’s room (RM 12).
  • Interested in saving a life? How about 3? The American Red Cross Spring Blood Drive is quickly approaching! Check your email to sign-up via Google Form or visit RedCrossBlood.org and enter: OwensvilleHS to schedule an appointment.
    • The Blood Drive will be Tuesday, March 10th from 8:30AM-1:30PM
    • ALL 16 year olds MUST see Ms. Pyle for a parental consent form. This form has to be turned in before Tuesday to ensure the student is eligible to donate. NO FORM = NO DONATION.
  • Boys Volleyball
    • Practices will be on Tuesday, March 10th and Thursday, March 12th in the Big Gym, from 5:30-6:30PM
      • ​Teams aren’t required to donate a canned good, but the team will the most canned goods will start each of their games with a 2 point lead. Cans can be dropped off to Mrs. Fletcher anytime between now and Friday the 13th.
    • The tournament will be on Friday, March 13th @ 6:30PM. 
      • ​Passes will NOT work. Admission is 2 cans of food for students, 3 cans for adults, or a cash donation. All food an donations go to Helping Hands Outreach Center.
  • Were you hoping to be in TV Studio for the 2020-2021 school year? Applications are available outside of Ms. B’s room (RM 1), and due back to her by Tuesday, March 17th!
  • Active Student Council members interested in becoming a Student Council Officer for the 2020-2021 school year: Applications are posted outside of Ms. Pyle’s room (RM 17). In order to apply, you must be an active member in OHS StuCo for the 2019-2020 school year. Applications and teacher recommendations are due back to Ms. Pyle by Wednesday, March 25th
    • Students applying for the OHS StuCo President position must currently hold a Student Council Officer position.
  • DECA Leadership Team applications are available now! If you are interested in being a DECA Officer for the 2020-2021 school year, stop by the bulletin board outside of Ms. Bowen’s room (RM 18). ALL completed applications, including teacher recommendations, must be received by Friday, March 27th.
  • April ACT is coming soon! Study sessions are available in the library during Dutch Time for Juniors and Seniors who are currently not in tutoring. You MUST sign-up in advance, in the library, to attend!
  • Want to earn an attendance prize? Every Monday, the class with the highest attendance for the prior week will be allowed to go to the gym during Dutch Time. In order for a class to win, students need to be at or above 85% for the prior week.
    • ​Monthly incentives: The class with the highest attendance for the month will receive something, such as ice cream or a yummy dessert. 
    • Semester incentives: Starting Feb. 3rd, students who are present the entire day (without being tardy or missing an hour) will have their names put into a drawing for a larger prize at the end of the semester. 
  • The spring play, “Annie Play Will Do,” has practice Monday-Thursday, 3:30PM-5:30PM. 

 

College Visits & Senior Information: 

  • If you are interested in speaking with any of the following colleges when they’re on campus, stop by the Guidance Office to sign-up:
    • Southeast Missouri State University: Cape Girardeau (SEMO) will be here Monday, March 16th
  • Senior Winter Athletes: You may take down your banners from the gym at anytime, before or after school.
  • April ACT is coming soon! Study sessions are available in the library during Dutch Time for Juniors and Seniors who are currently not in tutoring. You MUST sign-up in advance, in the library, to attend!
